“A fantastic book. I would recommend people get the edition with the illustrations by the author. | A few of my favorite books .... Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. It's so great to get outside my head for... | A particular book I've gifted most to other people | Epic life wisdom told through poetry. | One of my favorite books. | One of the first 'spiritual' books I read as a teenager, which gave me plenty of seeds for thought from short, but tothepoint, topics. | This book reads like a modernday poetic religious tome. It’s up there with the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching, the Bible, and the Qur’an. It is written in the style where it has a feel of religiosity and truth, but it was very approachable, beautiful, nondenominational, and nonsectarian. I loved this book. He has a gift for poetically describing what children are like, what lovers are like, what marriage should be like, how you should treat your enemies and your friends, how you should work with money, what can you think of every time you have to kill something to eat it. I felt, like the great religious books, it gave a very deep, very philosophical, but very true answer to how to approach the major problems in life. I recommend the prophet to anybody, whether you’re religious or not. Whether you are Christian, Hindu, Jewish, or Atheist. I think it’s a beautiful book, and it’s worth reading”

Not sure if this is the right fit?
Consider Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. Recommended by 101 sources.
“A sweeping narrative history of Homo sapiens from the Cognitive Revolution to the present. Harari argues that what makes humans dominate the planet is not physical strength but collective myths: shared fictions like money, religion, and nations that allow millions of strangers to cooperate. The book moves fast through 70,000 years, making big, debatable claims about agriculture, empire, capitalism, and happiness. It is less a history textbook than a provocative essay in chronological form, and best read as an argument rather than a reference.”
